Light is the theme for this small residential addition in West Berkeley.  The neighbor to the south had built a large, 2 story house, which blocked the sun and closed off views.  At the same time, an old and inefficient kitchen made cooking and entertaining difficult.

The remodel consolidated several small spaces and added a Sun Room.  The large Kitchen is ideal for entertaining, and a central clerestory window brings natural light without excessive heat gain.
